NN Project Space Residency, Northampton.
During the 5 day residency in the NN Project Space, the audience became the collective author for a series of natural debris sculptures.
Transcending their usual roles as passive observers and engaging more acutely with the creative practice, this form of participatory performance allowed a closer connection between artist and visitors.
The materials in space were all natural debris collected locally; discarded matter formed sculptures that could be burnt out in the furnace during the lost-wax casting process.
Following the interactive exhibition, fragments of the sculptures were prepared in moulds for bronze casting using the ceramic shell process, then returned to the Courtyard at the NN to cast the objects in front of an audience, allowing them to witness and understand the transition into bronze.
